Cambridge Organists Home Page

Back in the early sixties, webmaster attended a recital  by the late Francis Jackson on the rebuild by Arnold, Williamson & Hyatt organ in Attleborough parish church. It was there that webmaster first beheld a drawstop entitled “Prepared For”.

This was to be a reed rank available at 16,8 and 4 feet.

The 1997 survey for the NPOR still shows “prepared for”.

This page may eventually be transformed into something interesting. Just give me time. Meanwhile, here is an illustration of a wooden trombone from Audsley.

Wooden trombones at 16’ are cheaper to make as the cost of timber is considerably less than that of pipe metal, but you get what you pay for; a rather blown raspberry sound.
