No. 12: Triangular Flutes
Sometimes, I suspect, designs of all sorts of things including organ pipes reflect the desire to do something different just for the sake of it.
You might suspect that triangular flutes as made by Schulze fall into this category but they do give a larger ratio of mouth width to cross sectional area.
This example is in the organ at St Andrew’s Soham. Does it make a significant difference to the sound of the pipes?
